Downward facing DMS

I've recently made my way back to the gym after tearing my calf muscle on the squash court.

It's been a painful and frustrating time trying to get back both a reasonable fitness level and the mobility in my leg. I've been forced to focus on stretching - something I find mind-numbingly dull!

I mentioned this saga to a health professional friend of mine and, after some questions, she suggested yoga - something I hadn't thought of.

I've been using some yoga stretches for a couple of weeks and I find that I'm looking forward to this time at the gym and that I'm really starting to notice a difference in my flexibility.

This got me thinking... sometimes our business systems and processes need intervention too.

These are some common signs of "systems injury":

  • Are you seeing staff constantly busy with manual data entry?

  • Are some people struggling to find a recent piece of work?

  • Are different versions of the same spreadsheet emailed around and creating meeting chaos?

  • Are people keeping private silos of the most used documentation?

If you’ve spotted any of these symptoms, your system may need help. Let me be the systems professional friend to suggest some business system yoga - feel free to reach out via our Contact form.
